ICE ICE BABY

So for the past few months, I have been working on a website to not only support Idaho Center of Excellence (ICE) Healthcare Partnership TAACCCT grant participants but also function as sustainability once my job commences in March of 2018. This has been a group project among the ICE staff and this week is currently in the launching process. I will be creating tutorials for students to help walk them through the website, so this felt like the perfect opportunity to develop a brief intro to the site and its resources.

Instead of Screen-casto-matic, I used a purchased software called Camtasia. I am going to post later this week of a helpful app I found to support the Camtasia user who, like me, is just too vain and would like to see a larger image of herself while recording. STAY TUNED!
UPDATE:

So like I said, I found a great app to assist with camera recording on Camtasia. Download the FUSE app and all you have to do is record, pull up Camtasia on your screen and it transfers any video you like! I hope to provide a tutorial soon! My Friday got rather busy where I had planned on doing some recordings and was unable. Here is a link to help anyone of interest out!

  1. I'm assuming Camtasia allows for editing - something I desperately needed while making my own video! I also see that Techsmith is the developer. I have certainly been pleased with the simplicity and functionality of Jing so I am thinking that Camtasia must be relatively easy to use, too. I also got excited about Fuse, which I'll probably upload onto my phone!

The content of your video was so informative! What a cool initiative - very resourceful! Coming from a tiny rural town and graduating with a class of eleven, myself and my classmates were never shown the importance of these technical programs plus their practicality. This was over 10 years ago, so I'd like to think rural areas are better served now. Technical healthcare programs are so valuable, especially after working in the field and seeing their importance. It's great that people can gain a skillful degree in a relatively short amount of time, become employed quickly AND receive a great return on their investment! I love that people can obtain a $25 - $30 an hour job (PTA, OTA, Dental Hygienist, etc.) with an AAS from a community college. That's a pretty comfortable living for people in Idaho, plus the tuition rate is substantially lower than a four-year university.

It makes me look at the education system a bit differently now, and how unaffordable it is becoming to obtain a four-year degree for the middle class; without paying on a student loan for 15+ years with a minimal paying job. It's important to stay informed and really research academic programs and the pay-off rate that they provide! Once again, great insight!

  2. Rebecca,

That is impressive you have been working on a web site. After reviewing the video I can see how valuable your work is going to be. Thank you for providing an additional tool for screen casting. I will check it out when I get a minute. Do you find working on the website to be a challenging process or is it pretty easy to do?
